Peaches and almonds are in fact related. They are both a part of the “Prenus†genus. Peaches are referred to as prunus persica and almonds are referred to as prunus dulcis.
Both peaches and almonds do grow on trees and that the interior seeds along with the pit of the peach does strongly resemble an almond and for good reason. The fact is that even apricots and plums are related, part of the Rosacaea family.
All of the members which belong to the Prunus genus, which include almonds and peaches, are also part of the sub-genus called “Amygdalusâ€, making them all very closely related in some way or another.
