Spinach actually belongs to the Spinacia genus and is a member of the goosefoot or Chenopodiaceae family which is not related to cabbage at all. Cabbage on the other hand is part of the Brassica genus.

Many times people tend to confuse cabbage and spinach because they seem like similar vegetables when in reality there are quite a few differences. Both of these vegetables are good for you though and so you will want to get as many of them as you possibly can in your diet in order to stay as healthy as possible.
