Can Lobster Be Frozen?

Lobster can in fact be frozen but you should make sure to not keep it in your freezer for more than a month and a half. Chances are if the lobster has frostbite it has gone bad and is no longer edible. It will also be important for you to know how to go about properly defrosting your lobster, because you will not want to cook it frozen. Those who thaw their lobster out before cooking it will find that the meat tends to be much more tender. The best way to go about thawing out lobster is to let it sit n the refrigerator and defrost slowly.

By doing this you will ensure that the flesh of the lobster will completely retain the meaty texture which is part of why it is so delicious. When you are going through this process of defrosting you will first need to take it out of the freezer, put it onto a place, slide it into the refrigerator, and cover it up with plastic wrap if it is not in some sort of packaging already.

This will keep the smell from filling your entire fridge. You will want to allow the lobster to sit in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before taking it out to cook. Although it is true that you can also let it sit in cold water before cooking it, putting it in the refrigerator is by far the best method.
