Can Cantaloupe Have Listeria?

Although it is rare that cantaloupe is infested with listeria, sometimes people who grown them on their own can make the mistake of using uncomposted fecal matter in their fertilizer which can lead to infection from bacteria.

There are very specific health codes and regulations which are used when commercially growing cantaloupe and it is extremely rare for there to be an outbreak of listeria, though it has happened in the past, but even then it was from one specific source. The chances of cantaloupe being infested with listeria are fairly low so it is not a major health concern that you should have with regards to this particular fruit.
