Are Strawberries a Diuretic?

Well, the leaves and roots of wild strawberries can be used to treat diarrhea. And the fruit as well as its extract has been shown to reduce the risk of cancer and heart disease. It is a cooling, calming fruit which has also been used to treat urinary tract disorders. And yes, it can increase your urine flow to help with detoxification – it is a diuretic.

Many diets today encourage the use of diuretics to lose weight, but be warned – any diet that you cannot transform into a lifestyle will only end in you regaining the weight you lost. And a lifestyle of pure fruits and/or veggies won’t sustain you anyway. The healthiest diet is the one that involves lots of water balanced with a variety of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and a little bit of dairy.
