Are Lemons Green Or Yellow?

People tend to think of lemons as being yellow, and they usually are, but is this always the case?

Actually, it’s not!

Lemons only become yellow once they have fully ripened. Unripened lemons are actually green, and tend to look quite similar to ripened limes. This causes some confusion amongst people who get their lemons and limes mixed up, and it certainly doesn’t help matters that the two fruits have similar tastes.

Lemons can be picked and eaten while they are still green, however the flavor will not be fully developed yet.
