Are Bananas Acidic or Alkaline?

A lot of health experts and dieticians will talk about maintaining the right pH balance in your body for maximum health, and this is accomplished by eating the foods with the proper pH level in order to keep the acid/alkaline balance in check.

What is pH level? It’s simply a measure of how acidic or basic (alkaline) a substance is. A pH level of 7.0 is considered perfectly neutral. Numbers higher than 7 are alkaline, while lower numbers are acidic.

So are bananas more a acidic or alkaline?

Well, actually they’re both!

I know it seems strange, but whether a banana is acidic or alkaline depends entirely on when you eat it. Green (unripened) bananas are moderately acidic, with a pH level of approximately 6.5. Fully ripe (yellow) bananas on the other hand are moderately alkaline with a pH of approximately 8.0.
